The results of the ANOVA from the post -test administration indicated that the experimental group who received concept mapping instruction had a better performance than the control group who did not receive it. Thus, the findings suggest that the concept mapping the reading comprehension had special effect on their reading and understanding the texts. In a similar way, the control group has also demonstrated development after a seven-week of regular classes .According to the finding, the developments that the experimental group has performed is significantly higher than control group. As mentioned earlier concept maps harness the power of our vision to understand complex information “at-a-glance “.The primary function of the brain is to interpret incoming information to make meaning .It is easier for the brain to make meaning when information is presented in visual formats. Concept mapping helps educators understand what students know by the process of externalizing this knowledge, it provides an observable and assessable record of the students conceptual schemata and starting knowledge points (Angelo and cross,1993 ).The result of this study are in line with some researchers which have been done before. Reading strategies instruction has an important effect on reading comprehension and motivates students for reading (National Reading Panel, 2000).
As it appears there has not been much research on concept-mapping in order to improve reading comprehension and one of the reasons why it is so is that concept maps are employed more frequently as instructional tools than as assessment tools (Ruiz-Primo and Shavelson, 1996).
The results of paired T-Test parametric test indicated that using concept-mapping technique by English learners may lead to a better reading comprehension. As pointed out earlier concept-mapping technique includes using concept-maps which would help learners comprehend reading texts better. In doing so, teachers give learners tips on how to use concept-maps more efficiently.
