At the present stage of economic development, one of the main components of successful industrial organizations is planning productivity. Increased productivity reduces the cost of work on the production unit hence increase in output. This project describes various approaches to increasing productivity by overcoming various losses during the processing of Pulse.Materials handling facilities and the equipment can contribute about 70% of the total cost of the product to be manufactured. Facility layout design is a part of facilities planning. It is the systematic arrangement of work space such as providing a smooth way to approach facilities that have strong influence in plant. The major objective of the facility layout planning is to minimize the cost of materials handling within the plant. According to Sims, states the best material handling is no handling. A good layout is able to manufacture the product economically in the required variety and volume. Other objectives are to worthwhile utilization of manpower, space and infrastructure as well as to improve self-confidence and self-esteem of the worker. 25Agriculture is one of the strongholds of the Indian economy and share 18.5 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP). Its importance from the fact that it has vital supply and demand links with the manufacturing sector and is a source of livelihood for the rural population of India. It is the backbone of rural livelihood security system. According to the data of 2007-08, India has record of food grain production of about 227 million tonnes. There is an increment of 10 to 12 million tonnes in an excess as that of the previous data. During the Rabi season, with an added of 2 to 3 million tonnes it would touch to 230 million tonnes – a major achievement in food grain production. There is a rapid change in the agricultural situation of India. Now it has been viewed as a subsistence occupation and a way of life for the peasant is now rapidly getting commercialized. Indian farmer produce for the market rather than for domestic consumption. With the advancement in farm technology, Agriculture has become increasingly capital intensive in terms of augmentation of productivity both land and human labour. 14The Pulses availability per capita has steadily decreased due to poor growth in the rate of production. This decrease in rate of production occurred due to the marginalization of pulses to reduce huge post-harvest losses in arise of Green Revolution and low investment in R&D activities. According to approximate calculation, the post-harvest losses from harvesting to storage and storage to milling may vary from 25-30% in Pulses. If this loss is decreased by 50%, there is 1.5-2.0 million tonnes increment in pulse grains which is almost equal to current import. In the last few years, R&D activities were set up to develop technologies for decrease in post-harvest losses. The most important operations in post-harvest profile of pulse are milling and storage being got the maximum focus. As a resultant, there were developments of large number of low capacity dal mills to fulfil the milling requirement of small-scale industry. Now some large scale processing reviewed by scientific innovation which improve the method of Pulse milling. 22Today?s the developing countries have undergone the industrialization due to growing in size and complication over the last few years. This leads to some immediate solution needed for procedures or techniques for solving various problems. The researchers may analyse the way to solve such problems and find the best way to enhance plant layout. The basic industrial layout planning applies to systematic layout planning (SLP) method in which there is step-by-step procedure for plant design from input data and activities for evaluation of plant layout. This method provides the new plant layout and also better utilization of space which make better material flow through the plant which help to increase production in industries.
