awareness and knowledge:

This is where a person with the
illness is unaware of what their illness is because of the lack of information
provide for that illness or the lack of information given to the care provided
for the illness a person has. A strategy to improve this could be Educational
information materials. This is where materials are made with the information
inserted into them to raise awareness of illnesses and factualises available for
these. These can be in the form of leaflets, posters, games, slide
presentations, wall displays, CD-ROMs, DVDs, flyers, web-based materials and
newspaper or magazine advertisement or articles.

Practical challenges

This is where a person is less
mobile than most people around them and struggle with tasks such as getting out
of bed, washing themselves and if older cooking meals for themselves. As a
service provider having to deal with theses challenges and find they cannot
provide the best care for the patient that is struggling with this challenge. A
strategy that could be used to improve this could be training courses.
This is where courses are provided to the practitioners to provide the service
a group with the training to help care for the users that provide that extra care
to those with less mobility. These courses could consist of how to cope with
the extra care needed and their bodily needs, organisation such as local
councils and hospitals running the courses.

skills challenges

this is where for example an
older person who is no longer able to get out of the house and wants to know
what help is out there to help them but doesn’t have the it skills to find this
information or phone numbers for the help service available to this person. A
strategy available to this challenge could be computer-aided advice system
this is where there is an online decision support system which provides the
information available to the person on what their care needs such as
pharmacies, best doctors available to that care. Making it so that the patient
doesn’t need to take unnecessary action in their care needs.

Acceptance and belief challenges:

This is where a person is struggling
to find acceptance in their health decline, also a patient’s beliefs may make
it so that end of life care is challenged due to their religious beliefs. A
strategy available to this challenge could be the opinion leader this is
because an opinion leader is a well-known individual or organisation that can
provide information and influence public opinions. The opinion leader has to be
a person who has an active voice in the public eye, and this person can speak
out on behalf of all people giving advice to help make care better for everyone
in care.

Motivational challenge:

This is where the patient lacks
the motivation to improve on their health or the service provider lakes the
motivation to improve their service to help the users. For example, if someone
is obese they may lack the motivation to lose the weight necessary to improve
their health. A strategy that is available to help deal with this challenge
would be patient-mediated strategies this is where information is provided
through mass-media campaigns to service users and the public, this gives
information such as the benefits of new programs and health brake throughs that
could motivate the patient because it would show them that there are benefits
to their health by having the motivation to get better.

Communication challenge:

This could be that when there
isn’t an understanding in what the patient is being told about their condition
or when the practitioners don’t understand what their patients needs. Ways in
which this breach of communication could happen is through the different models
of communication theses are behavioural, cognitive, psychoanalytical, and
social and if theses are breached then there would be a clear there is a
challenge in the communication between the practitioner and service user. The
strategy that is available to help deal with this challenge would be training
course this is because it can suggest different methods of communication
and help in perfecting these, but it can also show you how to use them properly
in explaining to the patient the care available to them but also what issues
they are facing this is good as it makes it so that there won’t be any miss
understandings or lost information in the communication.

Nusrat Patel:

A challenge Nusrat would face
would be acceptance and beliefs. This would be because Nusrat must have a
volunteer accompany her to the bathroom as she is at risk of having the epileptic
fit. This could cause her to feel like she isn’t accepted as she would feel that
others would look down on her as she is only 19 years of age and what others think
about her would affect her more as she would most likely be wanting to be accepted
by her peers and not be an outsider as she is in the adolescent stage of life this
would affect her more than if she was in the early adulthood as during this age
we tend to be closer to our friends than anyone else. The strategy to help Nusrat
with this challenge would be opinion leader as an opinion leader works with
presenting to the public information and provides an influence over others opinion
the opinion leader is
