My Concrete. Advantages of using Concrete as a
My first material that I have chosen is Mild Steel. Advantages of using Mild Steel as a main body for the new barbecue include-As it contains approximately 0.05 – 0.25% carbon this makes it very malleable and ductile.it is cheap and easy to form; surface hardness can be increased through carburizing. It’s melting point 1510 °C, this is makes it important and useful as you have a strong guarantee that it will not melt from the fire in the barbecue.Disadvantages of using Mild Steel as a main body for the new barbecue include-Mild Steel has a relatively low tensile strength. You would need to keep high maintenance so that it remains clean and stays in the same condition as when you bought it.The overall cost of the barbecue will be about £50.Mild steel is a Ferrous metal that is made from Iron, Carbon and Magnesium (0.4%); with a density of 7.85g/?. Mild Steel is used to make: ,Pipelines, Machine and Vertical parts,Building frames and ship hulls and many other products. My second material that I have chosen is Concrete. Advantages of using Concrete as a main body for the new barbecue include-It is strong and durable, versatility. You do not need to maintain the material as much as you would need to for mild steel. It is cheap. It is fire resistant, thermal mass and locally produced and used. The overall cost will be about £35Disadvantages of using Concrete as a main body for the new barbecue include-It is very heavy. It can crack if damaged badly.Concrete is a composite material that is made of rock, sand and gravel. It doesn’t have a melting point and its density is 24000 kg. Concrete is used for floors, walls, reinforced walls etc.I have chosen in the end to go with concrete as it is strong, cheap and easier to maintain in comparison to the mild steel. It is completely fireproof and will not melt however it is very heavy.Mild Steel would not be used as it does melt and will cost a lot more money than the concrete and its tensile strength is lower.
