According to the lecture, an implication is described as “a logical relationship between two propositions in which if the first proposition is true then the second proposition is also true.” (Tusing 2017). An implication is something that is expressed or it occurs indirectly.  A simple way to explain what an implication is if you walk into a gym and you see basketball hoops, people running around and playing games and not knowing what it is you must assume it is a gym. If I saw the basketball hoop then I wouldn’t know it was a gym but then I saw people playing games so then I realized that it was a gym. I have had many personal implications and one in example that I remember was this year when I was in a Spanish group presentation and one of the people in my group didn’t bring the flash drive so therefore we couldn’t share our information to the class. One of the messages from the implication, implied that we couldn’t present our work to the class because we didn’t communicate clearly enough with the flash drive. The other message that occurred was that we received a “0” for the presentation.  This implication resulted in a consequence and it was our responsibility to figure it out.  With that being said, the reasonable consequence of a proposition is not directly stated by the proposition. There are so many implications throughout the world that are used everyday. People are not born and don’t know how to interpret things that are being implied. Therefore implications come from your personal experiences and knowledge.  Through implications, meanings can be removed from messages that were not supposed to occur. The root word of implication is to imply which is to indicate by a inference rather than by a direct statement. (Tusing 2017) Although, implications can be wrong, an argument can be made to justify why you think it is that way. This is what causes people to start a debate or an argument because everyone has their own suggestions and opinions so this results in a consequence.   As children grow up, they experience and can see several ways of implications with people they look up to including their parents, teachers, or coaches. People purposefully use implications as a way to communicate better. I can use another example that is personal to me, when I was a little kid,  my mother said she loved this specific outfit I wore. It was an all green outfit so I implied from this statement that she hated when I wore other outfits, so the next couple weeks I didn’t wear any other outfits but the green one.  She then talked to me and explained to me that she loved when I wore other outfits too. This is explained as an example of accidental implication. There are several different ways that someone could describe an implication.  According to page 9 in the online book, Communication is “purposive” and this means that people communicate with the intention of affecting or influencing other people” (Tubbs Communication)  The way you communicate tells a lot about your character and how you present yourself. Other people can see how you act and your body language when you talk to them. There are so many ways you communicate and how you can express your feelings.  In Figure 1.1 Tubbs Communication model which involves two Communicators which we call them Communicator 1 and Communicator 2. Communicator 1 is the (sender/receiver) and Communicator 2 is the (reciever/sender). Both are sources of communication and receive messages at the same time.  In addition to receiving messages, both parties are being influenced by each other in the transaction. Communicator 1 begins the first message, and Communicator 2 is the first person to recognize the transmitted stimuli. Most of the daily communication activities are spontaneous and relatively unstructured. They are observing the other person’s behavior so they are explained as overlapping roles.
