An important turning point in world history that affected everyone was the Neolithic Revolution. The Neolithic Revolution began in Southwest Asia and occurred between 8000 B. C. E – 4000 B. C. E. The Neolithic Revolution is an important turning point in history because it allowed people to create civilization. These civilizations were allowed to come to form because of the change in weather from freezing cold to warm, also from the increase of population. The change in weather from freezing to warm allowed this change because they could plant foods, build homes and raise their families and animals.
The increase of population allowed for help with farming and allowed for them to trade for things they needed. In 8000 B. C pigs, cows, goats and sheep were domesticated. They gave them a source of meat, milk and wool. Around 6000 B. C wheat and barley were farmed to allow them to make bread products. Domesticating animals and farming plants meant they could give up their nomadic ways of life and begin to live in settled communities. Food surpluses made it possible for people to do things other than farming. Some people became artisans. An artisan is a skilled craftsperson who makes products such as weapons and jewelry.
The organized communities stored food and other material goods, which encouraged the development of trade such as personal property. These organized communities expanded in time to create cities, religions and artists which began social structures, writings and eventually governments. So, in conclusion this major turning point in history has made us what we are today. This is a form of human evolution allowing us such changes in life to not be feared. Technology has changed a lot of what we are. However, without this major evolution I feel we would all still be living as nomads.
