This escaped the holding cell that she was

This text focuses on the love and devotion between a daughter and her mother. Our main character, Ember has been arrested by a military organization knowns as FDR.Her mother and her were separated and Ember has escaped the holding cell that she was in. She finds out, on page 105, That her mother has been released. ” ‘I promised her I’d get you out of here.’…. ‘Is she still in jail?’ I asked.  ‘No.'” Throughout this whole book Ember is trying to find her mother who is inside a rebel safe house. She travels across america to find her. While most of the book is about Ember finding her mother, there are still smaller themes in this story. For example, on page 249 the love interest between Chase and Ember finally sparks in this passage, “‘I can’t leave you here.’ ‘Yes you can’ Chase replied. I’m sorry for screwing everything up. I didn’t mean to hurt you.’ And suddenly chases lips were on mine.”  Chase  and Ember have always loved each other and been friends but they never have gotten this close before. This creates conflict because Ember has feelings for chase and does not want to leave him.The conflict that arises with Embers love for chase can jeopardize the safety of her, Chase and even her mother . On page 249 we can use the same text evidence, “‘I can’t leave you here.’ ‘Yes you can’ Chase replied. I’m sorry for screwing everything up. I didn’t mean to hurt you.” and find more things about the theme. This text evidence shows that Ember is risking staying with Chase and endangering her life as well as her mothers.Even Ember’s devotion can get her killed, as well as Chase and ruin her chance at finding her mother. This is expressed on page 199-200 a “‘You going to arrest me?’ the old man asked. ‘Please, I have a family.’ a second later the deafening sound of gunshots split my eardrums… The FBR were murdering civilians.” In that passage the man that was shot did not know that Chase and Ember were hiding inside his building and the FBR had killed him because Ember and Chase were inside that building. Ember had cost that man his life because she needed a place to stay before they left to find her mother. The main theme is the devotion between a daughter and her mother. This is the Drive for Ember and why she even escaped the prison she was contained in. The text evidences prove this by showing how her actions are affecting or have affected people around her.
